De La Salle Spartans vs St. John Bosco Braves

CIF State

I didn’t get to watch the whole game. I caught mid second quarter through the second half, and I saw a lot of De La Salle mistakes and St. John Bosco capitalizing on almost every one of them.

The Spartan’s speedy running back, Antoine Custer, got injured in the first quarter that really hurt the team. However, the Braves had a lot more depth in all positions and the talent differential was very apparent.

For the first time in the season, both of De La Salle’s lines were dominated. Bosco’s Offensive and Defensive lines had a noticeable size and talent advantage.

Even though the Braves dominated the game, the Spartans still found themselves in winning position in the fourth quarter when they closed the gap on the score after a deep bomb throw by the Spartan’s quarterback Christian Williams, making the score 20-14 (Braves). But the hopes went out the door after a failed 4th and 7 conversion, by the Spartans, with only minutes left in the game.

Both teams unmistakably deserved to compete in the championship game and proved throughout the season by posting 14-0 (De La Salle) 15-0 (Bosco) records.

Awesome game by two talented powerhouse teams. Bosco earned the win and De La Salle did a great job too!
